An important pillar of the mission
is to create opportunities for promising musicians.
Together with several partners within and outside the province, symphoniaASSAI is fully committed to achieving these joint objectives.
From young talent to top musician: within a pedagogical-artistic framework, promising musicians are guided in their musical development in order to be able to move on to a professional-artistic working environment.
In addition, symphoniaASSAI aims to provide a platform for promising soloists, composers and conductors who have already distinguished themselves on national and international stages and who inspire audiences with their fresh energy and innovative ideas.

Limburgs Orkest Jeugd en Muziek
With the symphonic youth orchestra, with which we have had a strong interaction for a long time, we aim to ensure a natural flow of young talent from Limburg.
The twelve music academies in Limburg send their best students, who are immersed in the rich symphonic repertoire on a weekly basis.
At the Limburgs Orkest Jeugd en Muziek, these young musicians learn the tricks of the trade, discover the art of orchestral playing and gain experience that is essential for a future career as an orchestral musician.
At the annual music camp in the fairylike Alden Biesen, the professional musicians of symphoniaASSAI take on the role of orchestra coaches to surround the young musicians with expert advice.
This guidance continues throughout the rest of the season, as they come to reinforce their young colleagues on stage during rehearsals and concerts.

In addition to its partnerships in Limburg, symphoniaASSAI also has links with organisations outside the province.
In the spirit of lifelong learning, symphoniaASSAI and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel have developed a platform that offers young alumni a stage and allows them to continue their artistic development after obtaining their Master's degree.
In an annual joint orchestra production, the professional musicians of symphoniaASSAI once again take on the role of orchestra coach and, together with their recently graduated colleagues, guarantee a dynamic and inspiring orchestra project.
In addition, each production reserves a number of places in the orchestra for conservatory students, who can gain work experience in a professional orchestral environment.
Young talents take the spotlight in each of the productions: soloists are selected to perform with orchestral accompaniment, conductors make their debut with a professional orchestra, new compositions by students or professors are premiered,...
The joint concerts take place in Brussels concert halls, but symphoniaASSAI also brings the cast back to Hasselt to present this unique formula to the public in its home city.

young conductors
There is also a place at symphoniaASSAI for promising young conductors.
A conductor's instrument is the orchestra, but access to rehearsal sessions is not so obvious.
That is why symphoniaASSAI wants to contribute to the schooling of young conductors.
In collaboration with the Orchestral Conducting class at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, students are given the opportunity to obtain valuable practical experience with a professional orchestra.
In preparation of our productions, aspiring conductors are given the unique opportunity to work with our orchestra under the guidance of experienced conductors. Apprentice and master stand side by side on the rehearsal floor; together they immerse themselves in the great orchestral repertoire and the finesse of conducting.
At the end of their master's studies, they are on stage again with the orchestra, conducting the musicians of symphoniaASSAI during their graduation concert.
